The AT-AT Swimmer is like an dangerous underwater monster, complete with a moving head and a turtle like shell that is made of blaster resistant armour. Its shell like armour is designed to withstand and protect the vehicle from the crushing pressures of deep water, the effects of salt and water, and weapons fire. The AT-AT Swimmer is the underwater equivalent to its land based counterpart the AT-AT. And by no means is the AT-AT Swimmer less impressive than its land bound counterpart. It is one of the two designs that Design Team Beta are most renowned for (the other being the Explorer Submergible). Thanks to Hydrospeare's modification package, the AT-AT which was originally designed by KDY was modified to create the popular AT-AT Swimmer.
Indeed, the Swimmer is a dangerous
foe, and unlike the feared AT-AT the Swimmer features weapons that provide
fire arcs in all directions. The main body of the Swimmer was expanded
and flattened out in order to accommodate the additional repulsorlift
engines that keep it afloat. Instead of massive legs that propelled the
AT-AT, the AT-AT Swimmer is propelled by massive repulsorlift engines.
These repulsorlift engines produce a field strong enough to repel any
physical objects on the ventral section of the Swimmer, however persons
strong enough can swim through this field. Those opting not to attempt
to swim through the field can swim to the dorsal section of the Swimmer
where such fields do not exist. Included in the design is a holding pen
for prisoners. The AT-AT Swimmer can be found serving Imperial Aquatic
Garrison Bases or worlds such as Zeta Zero Nine which is dominated by
ice seas. |
