Note Some time after the Battle of Endor, a company named ExcelStar produced a modified variant of the Lone Scout-A, except that it featured: a weaker hull in exchange for increased firepower in the form of four forward laser cannons mounted on a quad turret above the cockpit, faster sublight speed and manoeuvrability, and a ventral escape pod.

The Lone Scout-A sees service with the Imperial Survey Corps, and civilian scouts for the purposes of exploring and charting areas of space. Santhe/Sienar Technologies managed to convince the Empire to permit the sale of a reduced-capable civilian version of the TIE Scout. The Lone Scout-A was the result. While the civilian design shares the same framework, its scanning systems were less capable. Additionally, the civilian design boasts a greatly expanded cargo hold compared to the TIE Scout. This design is one of many craft being employed throughout the unexplored and untamed regions of the Galaxy.

This scout craft was particularly designed for a crew of one, hence the lower performance values. Located in the rear are the passenger compartments. By itself it poses little threat. However, the Lone Scout-A is considered a legitimate target by pirates, as it may contain valuable charting data. Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, most of the Imperial Survey Corps' budget leftovers were directed into recharting known space for military intelligence and improving trade routes.
