The Lone Scout A-2 is an update of the original Lone Scout-A. In service before the Battle of Yavin, it serves both the Imperial Navy, and the Imperial Survey Corps as one of its standard scout ships. These craft were deployed from the first Death Star to validate claims that Dantooine was harboring a Rebel base. Like its predecessor, many of the basic technologies found in the TIE series of fighter are incorporated into its design. Compared to its predecessor, it features a faster hyperdrive backup and a new, more capable deep scan sensor array. These improvements come at the expense of reduced cargo capacity however. Its surplus passenger space allows this craft to carry out a wide array of missions.

*After Endor* Due to its popularity, the LSA-2 went on to continue service with the New Republic Scout Service. Generally, in NRSS service, a specialist accompanies the pilot. Many of the hated New Republic's usual exploration tasks into Wild Space are carried out with this craft.
