    The TIE Bomber, a doubled pod starfighter dedicated for bombing space and ground targets. There are two sections on the ordnance pod, they are the forward and the main ordnance pod. These pods hold all of the bomber's warheads. The elongated solar panels collect addition energy to help propel this heavier starfighter. The TIE Bomber's pinpoint targeting is achieved by computer targeting system which is below the ordnance pod (port side). The pilot's compartment contains the ejection seat, flight computers, communications, and life support system. Like others in the TIE series, pilots enter and exit the TIE Bomber through a top hatch. Behind the targeting computer is the bombing chute. Missiles are fired through the missile port on the ordnance pod. The ordnance pod can also be equipped with proton bombs, orbital mines or atmospherically-shielded free-falling mines.

    TIE Bombers are escorted by TIE Starfighters when making their bomb run on capital ships, space stations, and stardocks. Also the bomber can be used to mine planetary orbits. It can "Surgically Strike" almost any target without damaging the surrounding area. The TIE Bomber could often slip through enemy defences, which tended to be geared toward detecting capital ships. These bombers are preferred over capital ship turbolasers due to their pinpoint targeting, since full scale bombardment generally destroys entire surface areas along with any assets. Their targeting computers are precise enough to level specific buildings while leaving adjacent commercial and military assets untouched. They are manoeuvrable and fast enough for low-altitude bomb runs in cramped situations, such as canyons and cities. For its own protection it has two forward laser cannons between the double pods, the ion engines are located there as well. A rare hollow-hulled version of the TIE Bomber could carry small boarding parties when larger ships such as the Gamma Class Assault Shuttle were not appropriate to the task. The TIE Bomber is an excellent multi-role craft.
