    The Taser Staff is a balanced weapon that features weighted ends that ensures even after its power pack is drained it still remains effective. Literally crackling with energy when used against a target, it is the standard melee weapon of the Coruscant Guard. Capable of unleashing a stunning or lethal charge, it is a robust tool for crowd control and riot suppression. While Taser Staff can be broken down into three pieces for convenient stowage inside a backpack, it must be noted that in this state the weapon is prone to damage. Reassembly of a marred Taser Staff is hopeless. This weapon was in Imperial service at least since the events surrounding the destruction of Prince Xizor's Skyhook.

*After Endor* After the New Republic eliminated the Coruscant Guards they adopted the weapon for their own use. This weapon would later become restricted on the former Imperial Centre due to a rash of muggings and burglaries committed by Black Sun remnants in the Coruscant undercity, via exploiting a stolen New Republic stockpile of these weapons. New Republic Intelligence has since moved to stifle the availability of the Taser Staff. Nonetheless, these weapons are much sought after by collectors, especially by New Republic sympathizers on Coruscant.
