The XG Anti-Gravity Field Bomb is a mine employed by the Empire to especially keep local resistance groups weak, and to help put down uprisings which tend to employ light repulsorlift vehicles. Often, Imperial Forces will impound all the repulsorlift vehicles in a town or village that is a hotbed of Rebel activity, and lay these mines in the roads. People and non-repulsorlift vehicles can safely pass over them. Typically, they are buried a half metre deep, and will destroy landspeeders and low flying speeder bikes if tripped. It is known that the Rebellion has captured a number of these mines. In one incident, Airen Cracken infiltrated an Imperial fortress and placed these mines in a dozen speeder bikes. When the Rebels attacked an hour later, as Imperial troopers started up their speeder bikes the mines detonated, thereby creating a critical diversion. Other uses for these mines by the Rebels, especially SpecForces include: covering retreats, attacking patrols or convoys. This mine was in the Imperial inventory at least shortly after the Battle of Hoth. |
